Kicking off in the 1960’s with Derek Melling Senior at the helm of the business, D. Melling & Sons started life in a tiny garage at the back of a house in Higher Walton. Derek Melling Junior took a keen interest in his Father’s motoring skills and started whilst still at school to learn the trade in his spare time. By the time it came for Derek Jnr to leave school, his career path was well on it’s way to being carved and the family run business model was born. This business model has shown rapid growth over the past 5 decades; moving premises, continously investing in the latest technology and equipment the motor trade has to offer, employing a skilled, technical workforce and trading off an excellent reputation as a fair, honest and trustworthy family run business.

Although Derek Senior is enjoying his well earned retirement with Derek Jnr not far behind, the D.Melling & Sons family business model has evolved a further generation with sons Stewart and Ross making the natural progression into their roles as Directors of D. Melling & Sons Ltd.
